More than 17,000 pensioners across Solihull West & Shirley were set to lose their Winter Fuel Allowance under Labour’s initial proposals.
After strong local opposition, including a petition signed by over 800 residents, the Government was forced into a U-turn.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said; “This is a victory for our community and for the values we stand for. I’ll always defend those who’ve given so much to our country. This outcome shows the power of collective action. When communities speak with one voice, bad policies can be challenged and overturned, and those in Westminster are forced to listen.”
