Cllr Annette Mackenzie has lived in Shirley East for over 40 years and has proudly represented residents as a local councillor for the past 12 years.  Before becoming a councillor, Annette built a strong career in public service.  She worked with West Midlands Police as a first response officer and later as a family support worker at HMP Long Lartin, supporting mothers and families.  She also worked as a childminder.  As a councillor, Annette has served on several key committees and boards, including Children’s Services and Education, Health and Adult Social Care, and the Joint Health Scrutiny Committee (Birmingham & Solihull).  She has also contributed to the Foster Panel, Schools Forum, SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education). And the Carers Partnership Board.  Locally, she supports community groups including the LAYCA Centre and Shirley Community Centre.  In addition, Annette volunteers with Street Watch and regularly takes part in local litter picking, she is an active and visible presence in the community.  In the past year, she had the honour of serving as Mayor of Solihull. Annette is standing for re-election to Shirley East and Sharmans Cross on 7th May 2026.

Annette is part of a strong local team for Shirley East & Sharmans Cross with Karen Grinsell and Mark Parker.
