Councillors - Shirley East & Sharmans Cross
  • Borough Councillors

Councillor Mark Parker was first elected for the ward of Shirley East in 2011. During that time, Councillor Parker has seen many changes in the ward and he is proud to be an active councillor who stands up for the residents who call upon him for help and support. Councillor Parker, who's a respected member, has spoken on many unpopular planning applications over the last few years and has been successful in a number of them in particular the proposal to demolish the former Morrison site in Shirley and rebuild a care home after the controversy from the public that there are too many care homes.

Of late, there has been another growing trend, of HMOs, high multi-occupancy developments and this is a worrying trend. Councillor Parker and his colleagues on the council will be campaigning for a tougher policy against HMOs throughout 2026 and beyond.
